Starch-based biodegradable masterbatch — lowers cost and accelerates biodegradation of PLA and PBAT blends.
Product Overview
Starch Thermoplastic Masterbatch is a compounded concentrate of plasticised corn starch dispersed in a biodegradable polymer carrier (PLA, PBAT, or PBS). It is blended at 10–40% into the customer's base resin to reduce material cost and accelerate end-of-life biodegradation.
Our masterbatches use proprietary starch plasticisation technology to achieve a stable, non-retrograding thermoplastic starch phase with uniform droplet size under 2 µm. The result: blended films with tensile properties within 10% of pure fossil-based polymers, but at a lower price and with certified composting performance.
Typical applications include agricultural mulch films, compostable shopping bags, fruit-&-veg bags, hygiene film, and horticultural pot labels.
Key Features
Starch content lowers material cost of the final blend by 15–30%.
Starch phase disintegrates first — speeds up compost cycle.
Engineered carrier/starch compatibility prevents phase separation.
Choose PLA for rigidity, PBAT/PBS for flexibility.
Customer-specified loading from 30 to 70%.
Use on existing blown-film and extrusion lines.
